Thomas Jay Gummer

1946 - 2022

Thomas (Tom) Jay Gummer, of Billings, Montana, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2022 at the age of 76. Tom went to join his beloved wife, Ilene LaVonne Morrow Gummer who passed in 2014. He is survived by his children, Thomas Brock Gummer (son) of Bozeman, Montana; Beth Famiglietti Gummer (daughter-in-law); Krystie Gummer Nelson (daughter) of Billings, Montana; Ryan Nelson (son-in-law); Tanner Thomas Nelson (grandson); Sisters Sharon Shepherd Ocala, FL, Michelle Oswood (BJ Oswood) Great Falls, MT, Jackie Norenberg (Randy Norenberg) Kalispell, MT and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his mother (Hilda Gummer) and father (Donovan Gummer) both of Chester, Montana. Tom's other sister Donise Haddock passed away November 14, 2022.
Tom was born in Chester, Montana in 1946. Tom grew up in Chester and graduated from Chester High School in 1965. After High School Tom attended Northern Montana College in Havre, MT for a year before he enrolled in the Army. Tom served in the Army in Germany from 1966 through 1968. Tom returned home to the family farm in 1968. Tom married Ilene Morrow (of Fort Benton, Montana) in July 1972. They were married in Fort Benton, Montana. Tom and Ilene had renewed their wedding vows during their 25-year wedding anniversary in front of family and many close friends. They had been married for 43 years when Ilene had passed.
After selling the Farm, Tom worked for Ag Air in Chester, Montana. Tom and Ilene eventually moved to Billings, Montana in 2007. Tom then worked at the Yegen Golf Club in Billings for over a decade before retiring.
Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his family and friends immensely. He enjoyed being around his grandson Tanner, they shared a special bond.
Tom loved watching western movies, the Montana State Bobcats and the Green Bay Packers. The Green Bay Packers decided to win in over time, just minutes after Tom's passing. Tom also enjoyed visiting Benchmark with family and friends. He loved attending Brock's, Krystie's, and Tanner's sporting events. Tom was a member at Yegan golf course for years and had a special group of golf buddies he enjoyed golfing with.
Funeral services for Tom will be held on December 2, 2022 at 11:00 am at Cremation & Funeral Gallery (29 8th Street, W. Billings, MT 59101). A burial will follow the funeral service at Mountainview Cemetery in Billings. A reception will follow the burial at Cremation & Funeral Gallery.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Tom was a positive and cheerful man. He will be missed but never forgotten.
