THOMAS HAWKINS

Thomas Hawkins LEXINGTON, NC - Thomas Earl Hawkins age 74 of Lexington passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm October 1, 2013, at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel of Florence, SC, with Rev. James J. Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Thomas was born April 18, 1939, in Travelers Rest, SC, to Claude W. Hawkins and Rheba Gantt Hawkins. He was retired with Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments. A member of Rosemont Baptist Church of Winston Salem and a former member of Gideon's International. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife Joyce Teachey Hawkins of the home; sons, David S. Hawkins (Lisa) of Memphis, TN, Dr. Thomas A. Hawkins (Cathy) of Lexington, NC; brother, Jerry C. Hawkins (Louise) of Rockville, MD; sisters, June H. Grose (Pierce) of Fernan-dina, FL, Margie H. Jones (Chuck) of Florence, SC, Mary Jane Tedder (Ray) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Sophie, Taylor, Max, Anna, Nathan, Emily, Calvin, Whitfield, Sarah, Bethany and Knox.
