Thomas HAWKINSON Obituary
He was a graduate of N.C.H.S class of 1966, where he played varsity golf. In 1967, he joined the U.S Navy and proudly served on the USS BON HOMME RICHARD during the Vietnam Conflict. In 1968, Tom married Ginnie Cress and shared 56 years together. Their family started with Jeffrey and Jennifer, who idolized him.
Tom worked for the Union Pacific R.R for 24 ½ years and retired from Spokane transit as a supervisor after 13 years. He was an avid baseball and football fan. He especially loved to go on cruises and travel. He loved traveling to the Oregon Coast with Jeffrey, Jennifer, John and Ginny coming along.
Tom was brother to Robert and Norman Hawkinson (both deceased). He is survived by his wife, Ginnie; son, Jeffrey; daughter, Jennifer (Josh); grandchildren, John (Shalana), Ginny (Jacob), and Nathan; and great-grandchildren, River, Oakley, Ivy, Emma, Lyla, and Thomas (namesake). He also had many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Tom was a wonderful person who inspired a good life, and he was always positive and forgiving. His love was unconditional and an inspiration to us all. May you rest in peace our beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Tom will receive military honors at a memorial service held at 11:00 on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Rd., Medical Lake, WA 99022.

I was a 'hayseed' from North Dakota - that moved into a rental house next to Tom in 1961. He befriended me right away and began to teach me how to play golf, softball, basketball, football - - most of which I knew nothing about. We went to school together at Havermale JHS - then NCHS. We played most of the golf courses in Spokane together - - and rode our bikes all over town. In fact, we biked to Fish Lake a couple of times. I owe much of my success throughout my life in sports to Tom. He was a great friend.

I can remember the first time I met Tom. I was over Tom's mother house with my brother for what ever reason. I heard Sargent Pepper Lonely Heart Club Band music in the background for the first time. Tom loved Beatles. Over the years I got to know Tom. I know he's a wonderful family man who loved sports, golf was his game. Through my brother who ran around with Tom kept me informed about what Tom was up to, I always felt close to Tom. I know he'll be missed by all and I'm sorry for their family's lost. Tom was just too young to leave us.
