On February 19, 2025 Thomas W. Hird went to be with the Lord. Tom will be greatly missed by his father, William T Hird Sr.; mother, Betty Hird; brother, William T Hird Jr. (wife Mary) and sister, Denyce Hird-Krotz (husband Mike). He will also missed by his niece, Jane Weikel, 2 great nieces, 1 great nephew and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and many more special people who touched Tom's life.
Tom was a carpet installer in Phila., where he loved hanging out with his friends, until his accident in 1994. Since then Tom has had many highs and lows related to his injuries, however he held strong for 30 years. He most recently lived in Sarasota, Florida at NeuroRestorative (a full care facility) where his caregivers adored him. He loved sitting outside enjoying a cigarette and socializing with residents and flirting with the female staff. Tom was affectionately known as “The Mayor” because everyone knew and loved him.
