Thomas Hogle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Jun. 17, 2025.
Thomas Ralph Hogle, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 13, 2025, in Tallahassee, FL. Tom's life was marked by dedication, service, and love for his family.
Born December 17, 1935, in Indianapolis, IN, and raised in Tampa, Tom graduated from Plant High School and Florida State University. At FSU, he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, joined the FSU basketball team in 1954, and completed the Army ROTC program, graduating as a 2nd Lieutenant. He also met his future wife of 65 years, Bettie Moore.
In the U.S. Army, Tom served as an officer, rising to the rank of Captain. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Benning, Georgia, and Munich, Germany before serving in Vietnam. Tom later built a successful accounting career, ultimately establishing his own practice in Longwood, FL. In retirement, he and Bettie moved to Monticello, then Tallahassee.
Tom was also involved in his community, contributing to Sertoma, the Rotary Club, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, the Bahia Shriners, and as a member of First Methodist Church, Monticello, FL. His passions included music, particularly big band, jazz, and classical, and he was an avid Seminoles fan, attending home football and basketball games as a season ticket holder for over 30 years.
Tom is survived by his wife, Bettie, his daughters, Susan Hogle Taylor (Danny) and Ellen Hogle McLemore (Jim). He particularly loved and found great joy in his grandchildren, Martha Easton England (Will), Annie Reeves (Clint), James Richard McLemore, III (Catherine), William Thomas McLemore, and his great-granddaughter, Helen Hensley (Nelle) England.
Other surviving family members include his brother, Kenneth L. Hogle (Virginia), and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas M. and Marie S. Hogle.
Services will be Sunday, June 22, at 3 PM at Bevis Funeral Home, Tallahassee, and interment on Monday at 10 AM, at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, Rev. Neal Avirett officiating. The family will hold a visitation prior to the Sunday service beginning at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice or First Methodist Church of Monticello. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to his caretakers at Pruitt Healthcare Southwood and Big Bend Hospice, Tallahassee, FL.
