Thomas Holstrom Obituary

Holstrom, Thomas H. Nunica Thomas H. "Tom" Holstrom, age 77, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born November 23, 1945 in Muskegon, MI to Harry and Elsie (Kvarnberg) Holstrom. Tom graduated from North Muskegon High School in 1964 where he was a star football player. He then furthered his studies at Ferris State University and earned a degree in Business. Tom worked in the insurance industry for his entire career prior to his retirement. On May 26, 1979, he married the former Cris Pinnick in Spring Lake, MI. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening, and anything outdoors. He loved to sail and fish, go to music concerts, and was a Michigan State sports fan. Tom was always a gentleman, considerate, devoted, and kind. You could not out "kind" Tom and he saw the good in everyone. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, but family was always first and foremost. Everyone loved Tom and he will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS include his wife of 43 years, Cris Holstrom; two daughters: Abby Holstrom and Beth Monaweck; granddaughter, Mabel Jane Monaweck; sister, Pat (Ed) Schroeder; several nieces and nephews; and a host of close friends. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Tom will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be from 5-7 PM Friday, January 20, 2023 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Team Mabel (c/o Beth Monaweck, 15879 Leonard Rd., Spring Lake, MI 49456), Hospice of North Ottawa, or The Harbor Hospice Foundation: The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. We didn't know Tom all that well, but he was a great guy and a huge Rolling Stones fan like us. His smiling face will be missed especially in the wait line for the next concert. Our condolences to the family.

Chris and Pat I can´t tell you how sad I was to learn of Tom´s passing. Tom and my little brother are together again and sharing many wild tales as young NM guys. Laurie and I send our heart felt sorry that you have lost a husband and brother. Our hope is the many friends that Tom made will be a source of comfort as you hear how loved Tom was to so many of us. We recently lost Dicks wife Jan and my nephew and niece both asked about Tom because of the many stories my brother shared with them about his youth and his good friend Tom Holstrom.
Best wishes,
Mike and Laurie Burrous
