Thomas A. Hopper, Sr., 94, of Jackson, TN, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Cades Center.
Born on December 25, 1930, in Jackson, TN, Thomas was the son of the late Thomas David Hopper and Vica (Nix) Hopper. He graduated from Jackson High School and went on to build a successful career in the furniture industry.
Thomas began his professional journey as the manager of Smith Furniture Company before opening his own store, Hopper-Smith Furniture, in 1981. Under his leadership, the business became one of the most respected home furnishing retailers in the Mid-South. In addition to his career, Thomas served his country in the Tennessee National Guard, rising to the rank of sergeant.
He is survived by his son, Thomas A. Hopper, Jr., and his wife, Jeannie; his grandson, Thomas David Hopper, and his wife, Kimberlie; and a longtime special friend, Carole Harris.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital in his honor.
Private family services will be held.
