Cumberland – Thomas Lee Hutter, 76, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully at home under the care of his family on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Born May 22, 1947, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Luther and Margaret (Shearer) Hutter. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Hutter.
Tom was a 1965 graduate of Allegany High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran and a retired Federal Meat Inspector.
Tom was a member of N.A.R.F., a Boy Scout leader of Troop 13, previously a Commander of Frostburg, Maryland Sea Cadets, and President of Bel Air Crime Watch.
Tom married his high school sweetheart, Michele (Mikki) Hutter. Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Melanie Hutter and Angela Sweitzer (Donnie); grandchildren, Zachary Hutter, Braedan Ritchie, Brandon Sweitzer (Cara) and Samantha Sweitzer (RD).
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Monday, May 6, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Mike Iser officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans Association of America Chapter 172.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Sweitzer, Jr., Jim Tibbetts, Jimmy Phillips, RD Sites, Danny Miller, Michael Iser and Hemi Miller.
