Obituary published on Legacy.com by Raymond Funeral Service PA - La Plata on Dec. 29, 2025.
Thomas Jay Ickes, 80, of Waldorf, MD passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025 into the arms of Jesus.

Tom was born on July 25, 1945 in Pleasantville, PA. The son of Glenn and Florence Suter Ickes.

Tom was a loving husband to his surviving wife, Bonita Ickes. He was a devoted father and Pappy to his children, Matthew (Elizabeth), Phillip (Jalena) and Maria and grandchildren, Keegan, Layla, Aubrey, Annabelle, Liam, Emilia, Caleb, and Anelie.

Tom graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School and moved to Washington, DC to work. After starting a family in Texas, he returned to DC and retired from the Census Bureau. He enjoyed collecting and refurbishing antiques. Much of his time was dedicated to being a father and then an involved Pappy. He enjoyed traveling the country with his family and returning to Pennsylvania to visit.

I am and old friend of Tom, I know him since 1971 thru a mutual friend. We went to 200th 4th of July Celebration at the Washington Monument, we went to parties and to Ocean City trips. After Tom moved to Texas and started his family my son Tommy and I spent time with him and his family in Texas. When he decided to moved back North to PA we help move him and Matthew, Phillip, and Maria back to PA. Tom went with me to 20 years class reunion. I moved away to Oregon and Tom remarried to Bonnie. They raised the kids and made a loving marriage to show what is good out there. We stayed in touch all this years maybe not as much as we liked. The last time I saw Tom and Bonnie was in 2008 before I headed back Oregon. He has been a friend for 50+ years and when I saw the post from Matthew and Phillip took me by
surprise because I had just received there Christmas Card. I want them to know that Tommy and I are so sorry for there loss and I know that Tom is in a loving place in Heaven.
