Thomas J. Keelty

Thomas J Keelty, longtime resident of Somersworth, NH passed away on November,13 at the age of 101.
Tom was born in Durham,NH on Aug 20,1924 to John and Estelle (Kerr) Keelty. He was the second of six children. The family moved from Durham to South Berwick,ME in 1937. He enjoyed the best years of his life here and met his beloved wife Kathleen (Hussey) Keelty here and they were together 76 years, 73 married.
He had tickets to boot camp before graduation at Berwick Academy and left right after to join the Navy. He served on aircraft carriers, the USS Bunker Hill and USS Core from 1943 to 1946, when WWII ended. He logged many miles and saw the world. He told stories until he passed this week.
After returning, he married Kathy Hussey, went to Brewster Academy, University of Maine, and graduated from UNH in 1952. They settled in Somersworth NH in 1957 where they raised their family and worked in GE as Production Supervisor and other positions until retirement. They lived a great life with many friends.taking trips and thirty years of Wells Beach with their circle
of friends and family.
He was predeceased by his sweetheart Kathy in 2021. He is survived by his sister Doris Cheney of Concord, his children Karen Babb and Lenny from Somersworth,NH, Kevin and Carol Keelty of Portsmouth,RI, his very special grandkids Tara and Mike Spencer,Tim Babb, Kris and Alison Keelty, and Kate Keelty and Sean Walther. He especially loved his great grandkids, Ariel Castay, Hunter Spencer, Zach Spencer,Julian Babb, Jack Babb, Rebecca Keelty.
There will be a private graveside burial in the spring for Tom and Kathy at Woodlawn Cemetery in South Berwick
