Thomas Lee Keyser, Sr., 76, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024 at his home. The son of Charles A. Keyser and Donnabelle E. (Tribbey) Keyser, Tom was born in Plymouth on June 30, 1948.
Tom devoted his life to his family after marrying Randell Hurley on October 15, 1966, in Silver Lake, IN. Together, they celebrated 58 years of a loving marriage and nurtured their children, Thomas Jr., Timothy, and Rhonda. The role of being a grandfather and great-grandfather brought Tom joy as he watched his children raise their families with the same love and care he had instilled in them.
Throughout his career, Tom began as a roofer alongside his father before working at Agway Seeds. He later became a press operator at Bomarko, where he dedicated over 25 years until his retirement.
Passionate about his yard, Tom took great pride in maintaining an immaculate landscape. Many afternoons were spent on his John Deere mower or tending to his vibrant garden filled with vegetables and flowers. Neighbors often saw him sitting on his porch, enjoying the company of birds at the feeders and greeting passersby with a wave. Tom also cherished the moments spent fishing, coon hunting, and working on puzzles, a beloved family tradition.
Fondly remembered for his ornery personality, Tom was the kind of person that if he wasn’t joking around with you, it meant he didn’t like you. A devoted husband and father, he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Randell; children, Thomas Keyser, Jr., Timothy (Kim) Keyser, and Rhonda (Mike) Tomblin; grandchildren, Zack, Katie, Jessic, Evan, Zach, Alexis, and Kiley; great-grandson, Xander; siblings, Donna Loe, Karen Oden, Mary (Lon) Cunningham, Shirley (Gary) Douglass, Candy (John) Lampkins, Mark (Robin) Keyser, and Allen Keyser; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Sue.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Donnabelle; brother, Marvin Keyser; and brother-in-law, John Oden.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 11AM – 1PM at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1PM with Pastor Rick Hurley officiating.
