Thomas Kiessling Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home on May 27, 2025.
Thomas W. "Pastor Tom" Kiessling, age 65, beloved husband of 40 years to Cheryl A. (Conner) Kiessling died Sunday, May 25, at their home after a two year battle with cancer with his family by his side.
He was born in Cleveland, OH a son of Joan (Schreiber) Kiessling of Medfield and the late Werner Kiessling. He lived in Ohio before his family relocated to Medfield when he was seven where he grew up eventually moving to Winchester for a number of years and finally settling in Billerica in 1990.
Known as Pastor Tom during his 37 years in the ministry, he served on the pastoral staff at International Family Church before helping to launch All People Church of North Reading in March of 2024. His ministry was characterized by his heart to encourage others, his passion for teaching, and his humble nature.
In his spare time he was an avid golfer, loved a fresh cup of coffee, and enjoyed completing DIY projects around the house. Above all, he loved spending time with his wife, children and especially his three grandchildren.
Besides his wife he is survived by his son Brian Kiessling of Watertown; his two daughters, Melissa Allen and her husband David of Haverhill, and Lauren Kiessling and her husband Richard Celestino of N. Andover; his mother, Joan Kiessling of Medfield; six siblings, Patricia Kiessling of Hanover, Mary Ellen Petersen of Attleboro and Susan Hall and her husband Rick of Attleboro, Bob Kiessling of MI, Mike Kiessling and his wife Alma of Franklin, and John Kiessling and his wife Cammy of Stoughton; his beloved three grandchildren, Sofia, Luca and Matias as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and congregants.
A Celebration of Pastor Tom's life will be held Saturday, June 7, at All People Church, 99 Concord St., North Reading at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to All People Church, designated for the Northwest Campus Fund, a project to expand the local church that Tom cared for deeply.

I will always smile when I remember Pastor Tom. He was a no nonsense man when it came to the things of God. His compassion, wisdom and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him. His warm smile softened any tough situation you brought to him. Pastor Tom had a passion and commitment to his family that you wanted to model. His life exemplified Paul's admonishment, "Follow me as I follow Christ". He is already greatly missed. I pray God's supernatural peace and comfort will carry you through the difficult times and all the loving and fun times you've had will always remind you how much he adored each one of you. To Cheryl, Lauren, Melissa and Brian, thank you for sharing that incredible man with us.

I extend my deepest sympathy and prayers to the entire Kiessling family. I personally witnessed his faithfulness to the Lord and sat under his annointed teaching. Pastor Tom was a man of integrity, full of compassion and love for all of God's people. Always the same, he never changed in the 10+ years I attended formerly IFC. "And we know that to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord..." May the many fun and enjoyable memories that have been captured throughout the years be forever in your hearts.

He has run the race; he has fought the good fight; he has finished the course; he has kept the faith. Now he was presented with the crown of righteousness and heard, "well done good and faithful servant." But Cheryl, Lauren, Melissa and Brian, be comforted knowing he is in the arms of our precious Lord, enjoying those "things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love him."
I pray that God will bathe you in His love, peace and kindness as never before. Blessings.

So sorry to hear about Tom. Our condolences to Cheryl, Lauren, Melissa and Brian. For many years I sat under Pastor Tom´s ministry. He was always steady with a calm demeanor and an encouraging word. A solid Bible teacher and gifted speaker his ministry touched the hearts and lives of thousands. His eternal rewards will be great. This world is a little darker place without Pastor Tom. May the comfort of the Holy Spirit be with his family and friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many amazing memories of him from when I was a kid. Mr. Kiessling was a great man, with a great heart for the Lord. I am very sad that he passed away, but I am so happy that he is with Jesus and that he is no longer suffering on Earth. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sad to hear about Tom's passing but also happy to know he is forever with our Lord, Savior, and King. Tom was the best man at my wedding and I was his best man too. So many great memories with Tom and Cheryl including shared vacations. My heart goes out to Cheryl and family.
