Thomas J. Kohake, 73, of Seneca, died on May 1, 2024, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Tom was born on March 11, 1951, in Seneca to Leonard "Duke" and Grace Bergman Kohake. He grew up on the Kohake farm southeast of Seneca and attended Sts. Peter and Paul School; graduating from high school in 1969.
Tom was married to Janet Ronnebaum on May 12, 1973, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, they later divorced. To this union a daughter was born, Nichole. The couple made their home in California where Tom was employed by Flemming Company; he retired from there in 1989. Later that year, he moved back to Seneca where he started his hay and straw business that he operated until the day he passed away. On September 24, 2010, he married Glennette Mitchell were married, they later divorced.
Tom never knew a stranger and always was able to carry on a conversation with anyone on any subject. He collected coins and in his spare time and enjoyed delivering his hay to southern Missouri.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard on November 27, 2020, and Grace on April 6, 2010.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Nichole (Alex); his grandchildren Audrey and Colton; his brothers, James Kohake of Seneca, Patrick Kohake and Gerard Kohake both of Topeka; and his sisters, Jane Kreimer of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kris Haverkamp of Fairview and Linda Kohake of Seneca.
A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Seneca.
Memorials will be designated at a later date, and sent in care of the family.
