Thomas Kurien was born in Mundukottacal, Pathanamthitta, Kerala on January 2, 1950 to the late K.G. and Sosamma Thomas. He was baptized and in fellowship at Mundukottacal Brethren Assembly. He moved to Mumbai for work after college where he was in fellowship at Bethel Christian Assembly in Santacruz. He was an active member of the assembly with special interest in outreach.
He married Mercy Paul, daughter of the late E.V. and Mariamma Paulose on February 14, 1976. They moved to the United States in 1982 and settled in New York City. He entered the NYC Transit Authority where he became a supervisor. He was in fellowship with Emmanuel Brethren Assembly where he took an active role as a Sunday School teacher and an elder for 20+ years. Upon his retirement, they relocated to Lakeland, FL where he was instrumental in the foundation of Lakeland Brethren Assembly.
He had a passion for music and was recognized by many for his use of the musical instrument the harmonium. He was also an avid gardener with a number of fruit, vegetables and trees growing in his backyard. But his number one priority was always the Word of God and church activities.
He is survived by his wife Mercy, children Nissy, Sam and Nancy, daughter-in-law Linda, and his four grandchildren Jayna, Jared Rowan and Asher. In addition, his only living sibling, his sister Aleyamma, as well as many nieces and nephews.
