Thomas Powell LaClair, age 79, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away September 5, 2025, in Tuscaloosa. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at Magnolia Chapel North. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at Mt. Olivet Beaver Dam Cemetery in Gordo, Ala., with Fire Department Chaplain Darrell Harbin officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward LaClair and Opal LaClair; and sisters, Henrietta LaClair, and Marietta LaClair.
Survivors include his wife, Mai LaClair; daughter, Patty Marie Sellers (Randy); sons, Jason Edward LaClair (Becky), and Thomas Owen Clayton LaClair; stepson, Thanh Nguyen; sister, Dellmore Finch; and grandchildren, Mackenna LaClair, Savannah Sellers, Forrest LaClair, Foster LaClair, and Kai Nguyen.
He was raised and lived in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He served in the Navy, retiring with the rank of Chief. He was a Vietnam veteran. He also retired from the Tuscaloosa Fire Department. He loved growing flowers, fishing, and being outside. He also loved Alabama Football.
Pallbearers will be Jason LaClair, Clayton LaClair, Randy Sellers, Dustin Sellers, A. J. Light, and Thanh Nguyen.
