In memory of
Ki von der Linden

I was shocked to read of Tom's passing. It seems like he was always a
friend in my life. We talked regularly between reunions and lots of time
visiting Chatham during reunions. When I was in the Air Force, I stayed
with him and his Navy roommates in Hawaii. He picked me up at the
airport. Before saying hello, he handed me a bottle of beer! It was typical
Tom. He is already missed.

So sad to hear of Tom´s passing. We had known each other since we were classmates at Milton Avenue School (Miss Clum´s fifth grade) in our hometown of Chatham, New Jersey, and had kept in touch at our recent high school reunions. I will never forget him.

This was a shock. I spent a lot of time with Tom at the 2024 CHS reunion and had meant to stay in better contact with him. I had even resolved to start off the new year by calling him. He was one of the few closest friends I had remaining from the CHS class of 1964. I'll really miss him.

I grew up a few doors down from Tom. There were so many children, especially around our age, on our street, and everyone played with everyone else. I am so shocked to hear that he is no longer with us. May happy memories comfort family and friends he has left behind.

I always enjoyed talking about Tom's Navy days and politics. He was a genuine guy with a genuine heart. He always made me laugh.

I first met Tom Long in 4th grade. I had a childhood crush on him and he on me. He walked me home from school (Milton Avenue School) He was such a gentleman, polite and kind and he carried my books as well as his. My parents were friends with his parents. Miss Daigle, my teacher, thought our relationship scandalous at that age and told my mother so who could have cared less and told her so. Then the boys started making fun of Tom in having a girlfriend so that ended our friendship. I am sad to hear of Tom's passing. He was/is a lovely, kind and good person.

I grew up with Tommy in Chatham, NJ, where we lived on the same street. We stayed in touch through reunions and other get togethers. He was a great part of our class (Chatham High, class of 1964- The Class That Went to War). He will be sorely missed. RIP Tom.

Tom, you and Leslie were my good friends for 40+ years! I'll miss our laughs, our long talks into the wee hours of the night, and a few tears we shed together over the years. I know I'll see you both again soon.
