In memory of
Mary Lynn Godwin (Hart)
December 30, 2019
Janie, I'm just seeing this now. I sure hope you will receive this late word of sympathy. I loved you both and am so thankful for God allowing y'all to be a part of my childhood/youth days. I know you must miss Tommy so much. I see that you have 4 grandchildren! That is wonderful! I remember Christy as a baby! Years fly by! I have 4 adult children myself. May you have a healthy and wonderful 2020. May God hold you close. Would so love to see you again! Love, Mary Lynn Godwin Hart

Dear Janie,
We are so sorry to hear of Dr. Tom's passing but we too rejoice that we know that we will again see Tom and spend eternity together. When we first came to Petersburg long ago we were looking for a church where God's Word was preached without compromise. We found this in Dr. Tom's teaching and were thankful that his messages were directly drawn from the Bible. Though we only spent 2 years there in Petersburg, we have been privileged to keep in touch with friends me made there from time to time. Many including Tom continued to pray for us during the many years that we have spent ministering in Pakistan. Our lives were enriched because of Dr. Tom.

Janie and family. Tommy was truly a wonderful man of God. When Sue Anne and I met Tommy at First Baptist Church Suffolk, as teenagers he was an inspiration to us and the entire youth of the church. The first trip to Jamaica with the youth was an experience that we will always remember.
Tommy will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have the deepest respect and admiration for Dr. Lovorn. I am so glad I had the opportunity to tell him what a fan I was of his column. I can't even imagine how many folks he brought to Christ during his lifetime. What a model for us on earth!

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Pastor Lovorn. Even though I never met him personally, I did meet him through his biblical Q/A section in the Progress-Index. I could feel his devotion and anointing from God. Prayers to the family during this time. He will be missed.

Janie, Christy and the Stawarz Family, our deepest, heartfelt sympathy. Trish and I have known and loved Dr. Tom since the early 1980s when we were members of the Monumental Baptist family. Military service called us away to other places, but he continued being our friend and spiritual mentor through the years by his weekly column. We will always cherish his friendship and his contribution to making our lives better. Our visit to Monumental Baptist after the Berlin Wall fell was a highlight of our life. Dr. Tom's influence in getting funds and Bibles to support ministries in the former Soviet Bloc is a cherished memory, and your visit to our farm in Tennessee with young JT was very special for us. We mourn with you now, but we are excited that one day we will rejoice with him in Heaven.

Janie and family,
There are no words to express my sadness and sorry in the passing of Pastor Tom. He truly walked what he preached and served all. I always enjoyed receiving his 'Biblical' questions and answers and I will surely miss being able to email him questions/concerns/prayer request. Prayers to you all.
