Thomas Macker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. Louis Cremation - Downtown from Mar. 28 to Mar. 29, 2022.
Thomas L. Macker, Sr., 87, passed away surrounded by family while listening to Hank Williams' song "I Saw The Light", at St. Mary's Hospital, on March 21, 2022. Although fully vaccinated his compromised health, contributed to complications from Covid, causing his passing. Tom was born on November 29, 1934, in Saint Louis, MO, devoted son of the late Wallace S. and Mary S. (Eberhard) Macker.

Loving father of Thomas (Linda) Macker, Theresa (Marty) Apodaca.

Treasured Grandfather of Gabriel Apodaca, Melissa (Eduardo) Gomez, Daniel Macker (Jessica Hilts), Rebecca (Steve) Boyce, and Great grandpa to Essence Gomez, Aidan Gomez, Xaidan Apodaca-Gomez, Caleb Nesbit, and Hudson Macker. Great great grandpa to Liam.

Tom was a loving brother to Robert W. Macker (deceased) (Marilyn J.) of Fulton, MO, and Marilyn Huston (deceased) (Bob), Portland, TX. He was a warmhearted brother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. Tom leaves behind 13 grand and great grand dogs, especially his former roomie, Jax.

Anyone that met Tom for the first time experienced his dry sense of humor immediately. Tom retired from Cerro Copper where he was referred to as "Mr. Wonderful" and "Tom Terrific". Yes, he could be hard to live with after those titles. Tom started bowling in his mid-30's and was a natural. He was honored for bowling a perfect score of 300 three times in his lifetime. He enjoyed his numerous road trips to Denver, Colorado to visit his daughter, Terry and her family, who would spoil him immensely. Although he always enjoyed his Western movies and country music, it was in Denver that he developed a love for cowboy hats. He would wear them every chance he got. Tom and Linda are grateful for his weekend babysitting expertise. He would arrive and say "Hey kids, what time is it? Their response: "It's Grandpa Time!" Tom Terrific loved baseball, sketching, oil painting and especially buttermilk donuts. His kindness, humor and devotion to his family will always be remembered and cherished.

Interment will be held at graveside in Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, MO at a later date.

The price of love is grief and we grieve for the loss of this wonderful man who touched our lives.
