Tom passed away at FMDH on April 18, 2025 at age 90 with his wife by his side. He had fought a long and courageous battle with Congestive Heart Failure, becoming known by his family as a warrior, hero, fighter and superman. He never gave up until RSV chose to take him to Heaven.
Tom was born on 3-2-1935, the fourth of seven children born to Ernest and Angela (Caba) in Tabor, SD.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings: Rita Nicol, Peggy Peterson, Jim Matuska, Carol Fossum, Judy Matuska and Ruth Matuska, step-daughter Cindy Spencer and step-SIL Martin Phillips.

Tom is survived by his wife Dolores, children Mitchell, Caroline and Terese [Greg], step-children Monica Phillips, Lindy Gillis [Russ], Lisa Cala [Joe], and David Eklund [Charlena], as well as Dolores's 10 grandchildren and 9+ great grandchildren, and many extended family members. He was especially grateful to his nephews Steve and Scott Fossum, Janel Fossum and his niece, Jeannie King. Their help and support these last 20 years cannot be measured.

Tom graduated from Glasgow High School in 1953 and joined the Army later that year. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and came back to Montana to work as an equipment operator. He took great pride in his EO skills but seemed to be able to do almost anything he put his mind to. He later moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where he raised his family. Tom always said that one of his favorite jobs was working as a foreman for Northern Line Layers. out of Billings. In 2001, after many miles of traveling across the United States laying fiber optic cable for the company, he was ready to retire and settle down, returning to Glasgow.

Tom was a member of St. Raphael's Church, the VFW, Flatland Cruisers Car Club, Glasgow Senior Center and Lukes 100. Tom always felt his greatest accomplishment in life and what he was most proud of was his three children and how they all managed to get their college degrees.

Graveside services and interment will be held on May 20, 2025 in Riverton, Wyoming at Mountain View Cemetery for Tom and his sister Judy Matuska, who passed away at Valley View Home in Glasgow on 2-23-2025.
