Nan, girls, Tim and the entire Maurer Family - I’ve thought of Tom often over the past year. His sense of humor; passion for being victorious during a round of golf; and his friendship all come to mind. However, one attribute rises above all the others - his love for his family. I’m sure the past year has been extremely difficult, but rest assured you are in our thoughts and Tom’s memory will prevail. God Bless

I worked with Tom at FirstEnergy and will always remember his smile, sense of humor, and loyalty to his family and friends. He was always talking about his wife and daughters, and loved them all very much. He was an amazing friend, who was always willing to listen, sympathize, or just laugh with. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

I started working with Tom from the beginning of 2014 as part of the PA and start of the OH projects he worked on. I am a consultant that worked closely with Tom. There was a small core group that Tom and I were part of that would travel to various office locations across PA and OH. As a part of that group, we spent many days on the road so having some laughs and making the best of the travel were a must. Some things I remember is visiting his alma matter in Shippensburg, Tom carrying his golf clubs in his trunk for a quick game on a new course he might come across, talking about his family, church and his daughters growing up too fast. Driving along side of Tom, he did tend to have a heavy foot when it came to driving to meetings () but that is because he wanted to make sure the meeting was ready to go when we arrived.
As most would agree, this was unexpected and tragic to hear of him passing. We all have our special stories and fond memories of knowing Tom always smiling. That is something that we will keep in our memories for many years to come. I send my deepest condolences for your loss and our loss to our small core group that Tom worked with. Wishing your family the very best in this difficult time.

Tim and I send our sincere sympathy to the family. Tom and I spent many hours together traveling on a First Energy project and sneaking onto private tennis courts in Ohio to hit a few. We affectionately called one another work husband and wife. Conversations always centered on his faith and his Love of his wife, girls and family. Rest well my friend.

Nancy, I had the pleasure to work with Tom and learning from the best in my current role at FE. Tom was so welcoming and always positive with a huge smile on his face. I remember Tom saying his job was to make sure I'm successful in Ohio with the deployment project and he was always available to help with I needed him. I will miss the friendship and smile but feel truly blessed and appreciative for the time I did have with Tom.
I never had the opportunity to meet you or your beautiful girls but know from how much Tom talked about all of you that you are an amazing family full of love for each other.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers to you and your girls in this difficult time.

Nan and Family,
My first memories of Tom were from Biblical Seminary. We had some classes together and then we got to meet you Nan at our house in Wallingford in 1996 as both of us were preparing for mission service. I was so embarrassed because I made a mistake that got Tom wet. I had handed Tom our newborn who I had just changed with a cloth diaper but I'd neglected to put on the plastic protector. Tom laughed the whole thing off. Tom's absence will be felt for days, weeks and years to come. Our prayers are with you. With affection. Carolyn and Jerry

I was the VP of Energy Efficiency until my retirement in December of 2018 and was responsible for the smart meter project. My memories of Tom was he always had a smile on his face, had a great attitude and always brought a smile to my face-just a great guy you always wanted to be around. He was a very dedicated employee and he was one of those guys you wanted to be on your team. I am so sorry for your loss and prayers are with you. God bless.

To Mrs. Maurer and Family - Please accept my condolences - I only just met Tom late last year and his smile is what I remember most. I'll always remember being on one of my first calls at FirstEnergy with Charles Hughes and Tom was in the room...I kept saying "Charles" - Tom slipped me a note during the call with a smile...that read, "He goes by Charlie" - allowing me to save face...it's really the small things in life that matter...and with that small gesture was all I needed to know...Tom was a friend...I'm sorry for your loss...

I was heartbroken by the news of Tom's passing, and I will always remember tom with fond appreciation or role and contributions to our FirstEnergy Smart Meter team. He was the epitome of all that is possible in a good friend and team member. He was kind, joyful and used his experiences and skills to help others. My only comfort is knowing Tom had a strong faith and is now peacefully with our Savior. He left us much too early and we all grieve the loss. My prayers to his family who he loved and spoke of often. I am grateful to have called him my friend.

Tom and I at our last reunion...you will be deeply missed, my friend!

Mr & Mrs Maurer, Tim, Nan & girls,
I'm so saddened to learn of Tommy's passing. It seems like only yesterday we were in the halls of Wernersville elementary. I will always cherish the memories I have of him, but he will be missed. What a wonderful friend he was growing up and although we only ran into each other a few times a year, I always felt that friendship was everlasting. My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Nancy I'm so very sorry for your loss. There isn't too much that I can say except that I'm sorry to hear such sad news. I know you're a strong and kind person . I wish you the peace and security in body and soul that you and your girls will need during this time of sadness.
Sometimes I think I know a lot and then I realize there's a lot of things I don't know. In the end I'm thinking it really doesn't matter as long as you have love. Love always Dorry

Nancy, Rachel, and Sarah - I extend my deepest sympathy to each of you on the loss of your loving husband and father. I work at FirstEnergy and have had the pleasure to get to know Tom. Over the last few days, I've thought about meetings; dinners; and golf outings we shared. I've always considered Tom a great friend. Tom's sense of humor; his love for his family; and his willingness to help others were always evident. The days ahead will be difficult, but rest assured many of us will be there to support you. You have selected a wonderful picture of Tom for us to remember him and to think about how he will be watching over us. May God Bless You All Take care - Byron Pappas
