Thomas Edward Meyer, beloved father, grandfather, veteran, and community servant, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, in Albany, Oregon, at the age of 81.

Thomas was born on October 21, 1944, in Washington, D.C., to Thomas Edward Norris Jr. and Dorothy Meyer. He was raised with strong values of service, faith, and perseverance that guided him throughout his life. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business from Seattle University in 1972, Thomas built a successful 40-year career in insurance sales, earning numerous awards and recognitions for his dedication and excellence.

A proud veteran, Thomas served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He received several commendations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal and Squadron Ribbon (1967), Vietnam War Ribbon (1966), Vietnam Campaign Ribbon (1966), Enlisted Airman's Ribbon, and Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (1964).

Thomas married the love of his life, Stella Lily Workman, on July 21, 1968. Together they raised a close-knit and loving family, built on faith and mutual respect. He is survived by his three daughters: Michelle Neilson (Scott), Dawn McUne (Russ), and Nicole Medley (Donald); and his cherished grandchildren: Megan Wyatt (Jacob) and their son Thomas Wyatt, Michael Neilson (Stephanie), McKenna Neilson, Andrew McUne, Courtney McUne, Brendan McUne, Emma McUne, Alex Meyer (Pennie Littau) and their daughter Stella Lily-Meyer, Skylar Medley, Ethan Medley, and Parker Medley.

In addition to his family and professional accomplishments, Thomas was deeply committed to his community. A longtime resident of the Willamette Valley, he served on the Scio City Council and was a dedicated member of the North Santiam Gleaners. In 2025, he was honored by the City Council for his contributions to the local community.

Thomas was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in various callings and found great joy in temple service at the Seattle and Portland temples. His life was one of service to others, whether through his military, civic, or church responsibilities.

He also had a love for enjoying motorcycle riding, football, and car racing. His energy, humor, and love of adventure were contagious and brought joy to all who knew him.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Stella; his sister, Trudy Weinheimer; his mother, Dorothy Meyer; his stepfather, Gene Meyer; and his father, Thomas Edward Norris Jr. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith that will live on in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who were blessed to know him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Foundation, North Santiam Gleaners, or Humanitarian Aid Fund through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
