Dr. Thomas Miles

I am so sad to hear of Tom's sudden death from a mutual colleague. My career in meteorology overlapped with Tom's for several decades, first in the UK and then in the US (at NASA/Langley). We often worked closely together and became great friends. Our friendship continued by long, humorous email exchanges when we were no longer able to meet professionally - emails that discussed the ways of the world and the comings and goings of characters in our shared profession. I'll miss Tom very much indeed, and extend my deep condolences to all his family and other friends.
