Thomas D. Mitchell

Thomas David Mitchell, age 83, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
Tom was born on July 26, 1942, in Chicago, IL, son of the late Clifford and Stella (Samulis) Mitchell. He married Dorothy Ann Hartig in Chicago, IL on November 7, 1964. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Deborah Mitchell of Peoria, Barbara (Michael) Banas of the Colony, TX and Elizabeth Mitchell of Peoria; five grandchildren, Sarah (Daniel) Clemens, Kevin (Bridget) Haag, Matthew (Haley) Haag, Thomas Banas and Nicolette (Brian) Warne, as well as great-grandchildren, Oliver, Maxwell, Alice, Sophie, Daniel, Ryan, Nora, Gracie, Lucy, and Nathaniel.
Tom was preceded in death by one daughter, Christina Marie Haag, one brother, Raymond and two sisters, Elaine and Jean.
Tom worked in the investment brokerage/finance industry and insurance sales for many years primarily with Waddell and Reed, retiring as a Regional District Manager. He was involved with the St. Patricia Holy Name Society for many years fundraising, his highlight being chosen Man of the Year in 1991.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 8245 W 111th Street in Palos Hills, IL 60465. Visitation will begin at 9 am with mass to follow around 10:15 am.
In lieu of flowers, Tom would prefer you send cash directly to him in Heaven but will settle for memorials made to EP!C of Peoria, IL.
The Mitchell family would truly like to thank all the nurses and medical staff at OSF home health and the Owens Hospice Home in Peoria for their wonderful care of Tom.
