Thomas G. Mooney
Thomas Galvin Mooney, 90, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2026 in the CT Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Kraussmann Mooney. Born Sept. 15, 1935 in New Haven a son of the late William and Margaret Galvin Mooney, he was a graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven and proudly served with the US Navy and was fond of telling stories about his in-service time. Tom was a proud 50-year member of the Hamden Elks Lodge # 2224 where he was very active over the years organizing many fundraisers and dinners and was named Elk of the year in 1998. He revived the Newhallville Little league and coached Petrillo's and J&S Hydraulics baseball teams for many years, in addition he coached the St. John the Baptist basketball teams. While Tom was involved with many groups and causes and service to others was a theme of his life, his main focus was always his family, especially the highlight and love of his life, his wife Barbara who had Multiple Sclerosis. Her knight in shining armor was her primary soul and healthcare provider. Tom strived to raise awareness about MS by helping with fundraisers and the MS Walk. We have a lost a loving man. I will always remember how he took care of his wife. He was truly her soulmate. He would bring her to bingo. I have known him for fifty years or more. My sister Janie loved him and treated him like a second father. He treated her like a daughter. I have very fond memories of him. I know he is with Barbie and they both suffer no more.
