Thomas C. "Tom" Moore, 77, of West Simsbury, beloved husband of Kathleen (Burik) Moore, passed away unexpectedly on Friday September 23, 2022. Tom was born in Cleveland, OH on January 25, 1945, the son of the late Charles O. and Blanche M. (Gensert) Moore. Tom was raised in Cleveland and was a graduate of St. Edward High School. After graduation Tom attended Ohio University but interrupted his education to join in the United States Army. After basic training he went onto complete OCS at Fort Benning and artillery school at Fort Sill. After a short time in Germany, he volunteered to serve in Vietnam and was a member of the Army's 199th Infantry division as a Forward Observer. On his return he completed his education at Ohio University graduating with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. Tom went on to have a very successful financial services career as a Chief Financial Officer at multiple corporations. Tom was the treasurer of the Simsbury Fire District for several years. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and a member of several sporting clubs in Simsbury as well as upstate New York where he had a farm. He absolutely loved his farm and spent every possible moment there, hunting, fishing, gardening, and beekeeping. He was also a longtime communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Simsbury. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Moore of West Simsbury, his son, Michael H. Moore of West Simsbury, his daughters, Sarah M. Rohrer and her husband Brian of Weatogue, Meredith M. Jefski and her husband James of Duxbury, MA, his grandchildren, Zachary T. Rohrer, Carson W. Rohrer, Drew J. Jefski, John T. Jefski and Caroline G. Jefski, his brothers, John Moore (Madeline) of Florida, James Moore (Donna) of Texas, Charles Moore (Janet) of Ohio and Joseph Moore of Ohio, his sisters, Mary Reed of Ohio, Sarah Williams (Brett) of Ohio, Martha Fuerst of Ohio and many beloved nieces and nephews. Tom's family will receive friends on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 2-5PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT 06001. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 11AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road, West Simsbury, CT 06092. Burial will full military honors will follow in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's memory may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church.
