My late husband, Jim, and I were always so fond of Tom--as our doctor, friend, and his and Jim's medical professional relationship for many years. Tom held a special place in his field for his ability, patient-care, personal kindness, and jovial , witty personality. Even after retiring in 2010, Tom's patients continue today to ask me about him and to send their warm wishes. He is remembered fondly at the practice and I was lucky to have worked with him. Tom was a big, tall, dignified-looking man. However, beneath those imposing appearances you met a true Renaissance man who could easily talk about opera, his grandkids, fly fishing, and Notre Dame football in one conversation. I found that I was often late seeing my own patients because I was so interested in my conversations with him. He was a great story teller with a sharp wit. Most of all, Tom was a kind person who people, patients, and staff trusted. We will miss him greatly.
