Thomas Sutton Niswonger, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 28, 2025. He passed away peacefully with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law by his side. He was born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, on April 2, 1949, to William and Eleanor (Ritenour) Niswonger. Tom grew up in South Connellsville. His hard work and dedication began as a young boy when he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. These character traits would follow him into adulthood. After graduation, Tom was hired by CSX railroad, but was drafted into the United States Army shortly thereafter. He was stationed in Munich, Germany, and he proudly served as a Military Police officer. Upon completion of his military service, Tom returned to Connellsville to be with Vicky, his soon-to-be wife, and resumed his position with CSX, including two years in Jacksonville, Florida. After completing his service on the railroad, he was employed by the Connellsville Area School District as a teacher's aide. He worked in the carpentry shop at the Connellsville Area Career and Technical Center for 22 years. He found great joy in working with students at the school, and the students appreciated him as much as he enjoyed them. He loved the instructors he worked with, and they looked to him as a father figure and friend. He was an avid sportsman, and he enjoyed hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eleanor Niswonger, and his parents-in-law, Frank and Lela Kooser. Tom is survived by his wife, Vicky (Kooser) Niswonger, whom he fondly referred to as his beautiful wife. They would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in October. He is also survived by his daughter, Amy (Niswonger) Riccio, and her husband, Jason. He held a special place in his daughter's heart, and she loved him dearly. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Paul Niswonger, and his wife, Cheryl; his brothers-in-law, Dennis Kooser and his wife Jenny, and Doug Kooser and his wife Lori; and his sister-in-law, Roxanne Duke and her husband Ron. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, PA on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, From 2:00 P.M.until 8:00 P.M.. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Brian Swan officiating. Interment will follow at Normalville Cemetery with full military rites. The family would like to thank the staff at Amedisys Hospice Care for the care provided during Tom's final days. "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope." - 1 Thessalonians 4:13 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the CAHS Bible Club in his memory.
