Thomas J. Nolan was born on 29th and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan. He lived there with his loving parents, Mary (Boles) Nolan and Andrew Nolan, his brothers Robert (Bobby) Joseph (Tiny), Andrew (Andy) and William (Billy) and his sister Maureen. Tommy met the love of his life, our mom, Margaret Ellwanger at the age of 13. A love story for the books. He married Margaret at the ripe old age of 17 and moved two blocks to 28th Street and 1st ave. They raised 3 beautiful kids together, Thomas, Margaret (Peggy) and Deborah (Debbie) Nolan. Tommy was a neighborhood guy and grew up with his friends and family at the Madison Square Boys Club. Tommy loved the Boys Club, the lifelong friendships he made and his summers at Clearpool Camp. Tommy loved a cold Coors Light, Notre Dame football, hitting a number every now and then and all things Irish. Most important to our Dad was his family and friends.
Tommy was everyone's friend, had a heart of gold and would give a stranger the shirt off his back. He always had an ear to lend, a joke to tell and a shoulder to lean on for those who needed it. Our Dad was a lifelong Irish bartender and oh boy was that his calling. He tended bar and served up some laughs at The Killarny Rock, Dave's Tavern, and O'Keefes bar. He was surrounded by friends who became family at the bar, Dave Sheeran, Katie Ryan, Susie Ryan and Dave's sons, Dave Jr., John, Patrick and Luke who all became like family to him. He loved people, loved laughing and loved being in the middle of the fun. He embodied, "When Irish Eyes are Smiling", he truly was a friend to everyone and was always there to help anyone who needed it. He was one of a kind, they dont make 'em like him anymore and I am so lucky he was ours.
Tommy, TN, Doctor, Big T, he was known by many a name, all reflecting the wonderful place our father held in the heart of many. But, he was above all the most loving, Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother-in-law, Father-in- Law, Uncle, and friend. Tommy was a loving husband who met the love of his life, his wife Margaret, when they were 13 years old. Sadly, our Mom passed away 35 years ago, but they are together again. Tommy is predeceased by his wife Margaret, his Mother Mary, his father Andrew, his brother Andrew, his brother Joesph, and his sister Maureen.
Tommy is survived by and will live on through his brothers Robert Nolan and William Nolan, Son Thomas Nolan (daughter-in-law Maria), his Daughter Margaret Perotta (son-in- law John Perotta), his Daughter Debbie Nolan, his loving grandchildren Lauren Marte, Thomas Perotta, Samantha Perotta, Bennett Nolan and Zuri Nolan.
