Thomas Ronald “Ron” Overman, 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Guilford County to the late Thomas Quincy and Lillie Davenport Overman and was married for 22 years to Sherry Sharpe Overman who survives.
He worked at the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office for 32 years, serving 18 years as a Detective before retiring as a Lieutenant. Ron was a very gracious and generous person who never met a stranger. He was an avid shooter. Ron was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Sharpe Overman; daughter, Joni Overman; son, Barrett Overman (Tiffany); stepdaughter, Crystal King (Ronnie); grandchildren, Aubrie and Luke; brother, James “Jay” Overman and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Keith Porter. The burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park with honors provided by the U.S. Army and the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office. The family will receive friends from 9:45-11:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
