Thomas Perritt Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 15, 2025.
Clay left this world on a Wednesday. The day itself matters far less than the legacy he leaves behind. To Clay, the greatest joy and proudest accomplishment of his life was being a father. His two sons - Thomas Triston Perritt, 14, and River Rex Perritt, 12 - were the light of his world, and he cherished every moment he had with them. Clay was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and later graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He built a successful and respected career as a chef, working in kitchens across the country. His love of adventure led him to live in many places, including Arizona, Los Angeles, California, and, at the time of his passing, Washougal, Washington. Clay's adventurous spirit extended far beyond his travels and career. He loved hiking, climbing, and being outdoors-finding peace, challenge, and joy in nature. Whether on a rugged trail, a steep mountainside, or simply taking in the fresh air, the outdoors was where Clay felt most alive.

After leaving his culinary career, Clay continued his dedication to hard work and community by becoming a proud member of Union Local 831 in Los Angeles, following in the footsteps of his father. He worked in the convention industry, where his strong work ethic, easy kindness, and genuine spirit made him beloved by colleagues and friends. Clay was an entrepreneur, an accomplished chef, and, above all, a remarkable human being. He never met a stranger and lit up every room he entered with his humor, warmth, and unmistakable energy. His presence touched countless lives, and he will be deeply and forever missed. Clay was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Clayton Perritt Sr., his mother, Mary Perritt, and his sister, Tracy Lynn Perritt. He is survived by his beloved sons, Triston and River Perritt, who will carry his light, love, and legacy forward. May his memory continue to shine brightly in all who knew him.

His Celebration of Life will be held Friday 12/19/25 from 10:00am - 12:00pm at 339 NE Cedar St., Camas, WA.

Clay was a very multi-talented young man. As one of the boys three grandmothers, I was able to get to know Clay briefly as we lived on the other side of the states. He loved the boys and enjoyed teaching them about the outdoors. I was thrilled that he taught them to fish as that´s my passion.
