Thomas Henry Plymesser

September 7, 1935 – February 25, 2026

If there was ever a man who lived life entirely on his own terms, it was Thomas Henry Plymesser of Chico, California. Born on September 7th, 1935, Thomas spent all 90 of his years in the town he loved, and he made sure those years were full- of work, grit, laughter, and a healthy dose of stubborn charm.

A proud Chico High graduate, Thomas went on to become an electrician and dedicated 65 years to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He could fix anything, wire everything, and had a story- usually a colorful one- to go with just about every job he ever worked.

Thomas had a well-known passion for firearms, and he was especially proud to receive his final concealed carry permit at the spry age of 88. Tough as nails on the outside, he was also soft-hearted where it truly mattered. Dogs and cats knew it best, they followed him, adored him, and never doubted who was really in charge.

He is survived by his children: Teri Plymesser Mattis, Howard Plymesser, Patti Plymesser, Thomas Lynne Plymesser, Lisa Plymesser Isaacs (sp. Michael). Jan Plymesser, Robin Plymesser Hillis. His niece Catherine Sims Brookins also carries forward his memory. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom inherited at least a little of his stubbornness, humor, or grit.

Thomas will be remembered for his no-nonsense attitude, his fierce independence, and the way he loved- deeply, though sometimes quietly. His legacy lives on in the stories that will be retold for generations, each one proving that he was truly one of a kind.
