THOMAS M. QUANTRELL
CAMDEN Thomas MacNeille Quantrell, "Lappa" 72, passed away on December 30, 2024, in his home, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was a loving fiancé, father, grandfather and friend to all of those who were lucky to cross paths with him. Thomas was predeceased by his father, Morton Quantrell, mother, Elizabeth Quantrell, sister, Joanne and brother, Jerry. He is survived by his fiancé, Eve; his son Michael (wife Brittany); his daughter Amber; his two grandchildren Elizabeth and Alexandra; his twin sister Anne, his brother Bob Mosher and dear and loyal friend "Uncle" Ron.
Born on March 8, 1952, in Presque Isle, Tom grew up in the town of Camden, graduated from Winchendon High School in 1970, then attended Western Colorado University. The list of accomplishments he has acquired over his 72 years of life are too many to list, but a few include Make a Wish Foundation, humanitarian work in Honduras, Jamaica, Guatemala and Haiti, and his dedicated service to being an EMT, and over 40 years with the Camden Fire Department. He was extremely athletic, as many would remember his days pitching on the Smiling Cow softball team, where he secured well over 100 wins.
Tom was able to find love in his later years, when he met Eve after she was persistent on going on a date with him. Tom would tell the story that she stalked him, and the rest was history after that. One of their favorite things to do was to take walks down on Neillehaven beach where they shared lots of memories near the Quantrell family homes
Through the years, Tom enjoyed playing golf, serving his community with the Fire Department, traveling the world, going on cruises with his son Michael and spending time with his family and many friends. He loved cruising the ocean with his son Michael, a private yacht, Captain. He was the happiest when the two of them were out on the water together. A list of some of the boats that Tom was most fond of are Anjaca, Natasha, Mrs. Lane, Almost There, Drumbeat, Betty Q, Babe-O and Ting Mon.
One of the activities that really kept Tom motivated this past year was golfing with the boys and we know he always enjoyed remembering his travels of "Global Golf".
Tom was known for striking up a conversation with anyone who would let him. He was extremely fun-loving, kind, charming and outgoing. These qualities were the bedrock for his relationship with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and only hope that his spirit will live on through everyone he knew and all the lives he touched.
Family, friends and others are invited to the First Congregational Church of Camden, 55 Elm St, Camden, Maine 0484, where a memorial service will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM at the Camden Yacht Club, 68 Bayview Street, Camden, for all to celebrate Tom's life, tell stories and reminisce.
In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be mailed to Atlantic Engine Company #2 in Thomas Quantrell's honor. Please send to, 31 Washington Street, Camden, Maine 04843."
