Thomas Wendell Rodden, also known fondly as Tommy or Tom, was born on October 4, 1948, to the late Thomas Aaron and Virginia Rodden. He passed away at the age of 76, after a life marked by love, community, and passion on January 23, 2025.
Tommy was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, who will be remembered for his warm character and the genuine connections he forged with those around him. He had a remarkable ability to meet people and make friends instantly, embodying a spirit that never met a stranger.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Wendell Rodden, Jr. (Lisa); daughter, Peggy Rodden Mathis (Steven); granddaughter, Allison Mathis; sisters, Susan Rodden Miller (Eddie), and Julie Rodden; brothers, Mike Rodden, Kim Rodden, David Rodden, and Brian Rodden; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rodden; along with several nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory.
Tommy is preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 40 years, Patricia Bowers Rodden. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with love and companionship. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Lindsay Alan Rodden and sister in law, Suzanne Rodden.
Tommy had a variety of interests that brought him joy and satisfaction. He enjoyed playing pool and had a love for fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and friends alike. Additionally, he took pride in showcasing his tractor at local tractor shows, a testament to his admiration for craftsmanship and the agricultural community.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tommy's life at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services located at 101 Oak Grove St., Mt. Holly, NC 28120. A visitation will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM, allowing everyone to gather in remembrance of his life and legacy.
