Thomas was born on Staten Island to Thomas and Assunta Ruggirello and graduated from Port Richmond High School with the Class of 1969. He continued his education at the College of Staten Island where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with the Class of 1977.
After college, Thomas worked for the NYC Department of Transportation as a deckhand on the Staten Island Ferry for more than 40 years before retiring.
Thomas served in the U.S. Navy. He received the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on August 24, 1981.
Thomas was a devoted father, husband and grandfather. He enjoyed researching U.S. and family history, eating good Italian food, and anything to do with boats.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. located at 28 Eltingville Blvd Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, NJ.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, December 1, 2023, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
