Thomas Martin "Tom" Ryan

I have just been checking names from my past.
I was Gretta's college roommate for four yeas at WMU.
Just now accessed Tom's name on line and was surprised to find his immediately . I guess I should have been prepared to find his death notice. However, It seems that your friends should just go on forever. These things are always a surprise.

I was so very sad when Gretta passed away and I am also very sorry to hear of Tom. I only really knew him as a college student and to see his picture in the obituary certainly turned the years back. He remained as handsome as ever.
Maybe Gretta talked about me once in awhile. We were so close in school, but, except for Christmas cards, rarely saw one another after that. I was her maid-of-honor at the wedding on the campus of Western.
They were a beautiful couple and it was so sad when Gretta passed away. He took such good care of her.
Tom certainly accomplished so much in his life. I remember him as being quite shy but so polite and caring.
I was happy for Tom when I heard that he had remarried. He certainly deserved happiness in his future life.

I met Tom as I started my career teaching at Richland High School. Tom shared his bowling team with me and his knowledge of the community. We had a ton of fun together and laughs as he began to operate his music store. A person with lots of integrity and one who rose up through the ranks of the community to be Supt. of schools at Gull Lake says much about his character, drive and relationships with people. We will miss him.

So sorry for your family' Loss. Tom hired me in 1967 and I spent 30 years with the district. I also worked with Greta as a reading teacher. We also shared a Benton Harbor connection as we were both from there. My prayers are with your family.
