Thomas William Sharp passed from this life Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility at the age of 89.

Tom was born in Gary, Indiana to Bernice Lucille (Peterson) Sharp and Charles Marion Sharp on December 27, 1935.

Tom graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1955 and attended IU for a short time. He then returned to Gary to help his father and brother at Sharp Brother's Garage.

Tom served in the Indiana Army National Guard from 1959-1965 serving with the 130th Engineers and raising to the rank of Specialist 4th Class.

After marrying Rose Ann Erwin July 25, 1964, they continued to live in Gary for two years then moved to Columbus, Indiana in 1966.

Tom worked at E&E Poultry for several years then took a position with Empire Gas Company. He then opened Columbus Automatic Transmission Service Inc (CATS). After retiring in 2010, Tom enjoyed traveling, playing golf and reading.

Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann; son, Jeffrey Higgins Sharp and his wife Tami; granddaughters, Aja Rose (Sharp) Davis and her husband Ramsey and Jade Nicole Sharp; and great-grandchildren, Ronan, Penelope and Violet Davis.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles "Chuck" Sharp; sisters, Claire Elizabeth (Sharp) Michaels and Joe Ellen (Sharp) Breese; daughters, Jennifer Jo Sharp and Kristin Lynn Sharp.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. October 9, 2025, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Reverend Howard Boles will officiate.

Family and friends may gather for memorial visitation from 1 p.m. until service time October 9th. Private inurnment will take place at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery at a later date.

In memory of Tom, memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or First United Methodist Church.

Condolences and special memories may be shared with the Sharp family and a video tribute may be viewed at barkesweaverglick.com.
