Thomas G. Shepherd

Thomas G. Shepherd passed away at his home in The Masonic Villages in Lafayette Hill, PA, surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He was 87 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Cyril & Sarah (Kelley) Shepherd, Tom resided in Glenside, PA from childhood through raising his family. He then retired and upsized to a small farm in Kitnersville, PA for 27 years, before downsizing into a comfortable residence in Lafayette Hill, PA in 2023.
After graduating from Cheltenham High School, Tom made a career as a gas foreman with PECO. To fulfill his creative passion for cooking, he enrolled as a student at the Philadelphia Restaurant School and graduated with a culinary degree. He worked part-time at Bently's Restaurant and The William Penn Inn for several years, to pursue his joy of gourmet cooking by working as a professional chef. Tom loved auto racing and owned Midget race cars that he raced on dirt racetracks in his youth. Additionally, he proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserves for a number of years, and we are grateful for his service. Tom was a 50+ year member of the Pennsylvania Freemasons and was a Past Master of Friendship Lodge #400.
Tom loved being outdoors, fishing, boating and camping. He especially enjoyed time spent outdoors gardening and tending to horses, goats and several dogs over the years at his home in Kitnersville. He was a talented woodworker creating beautiful carved pieces and wall art.
Tom was the beloved husband of Alice B. Shepherd, who predeceased him in June 2022. He was the devoted father of Susan Cunnane (husband J.J.) and Deborah Shepherd. He was the loving grandfather of Sabrina, Aidan, Curran, Luke and Declan Cunnane. He was the dear brother of Richard Shepherd (wife Barbara). Tom is survived by his 104-year-old aunt Myra, a brother-in-law Charles, two sisters-in-law MaryAnn and Franny, many cousins and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He will be missed by the many friends whose days he brightened.
A memorial gathering will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 9:30am – 10:30am, with a Funeral Mass to begin at 10:30am.
Interment immediately following, at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.
