Tommy Sikes, 74, of San Angelo passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Viewing will be from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Robert Massie Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:30 - 7:00. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Sikes was born on February 23, 1950 in San Saba to James Arthur and Sally Blackwell Sikes. Tommy graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1968. He married Karon Pennington on December 6, 1968 in San Angelo. Tommy served in the U.S. Army in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He was a manager at Safeway in San Angelo for 20 years. He briefly served as a police officer in Hillsboro before becoming a Deputy with Tom Green Count Sheriff's office, serving the community for over 20 years. During his service with Tom Green County he was a Sergeant for the Criminal Investigative Department. He proudly wore the badge for "never losing a case". He and his wife were foster parents to over 60 children for 15 years. In 2008 they were honored and privileged to be able raise their great grandson, Jayden, the light of his life.

Tommy loved being outside, hunting, fishing, and drag racing his 1923 Model-T roadster. He was the light of his family's lives. Tommy was a loving, caring, giving man with a good joke and an easy smile. He loved making people laugh and partaking in a good practical joke. He knew a little about a lot. One of Tommy's favorite things to do was to get on Facebook so he could push the envelope and go to "Facebook Jail".

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Sikes; and a sister, Sara Sikes HartKopf.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Karon; a daughter, Melissa Sikes Phelps and husband Shawn of San Angelo; a son, Thomas Lane Sikes, Jr and wife Valerie of Laredo; three siblings, De. Ray Sikes and wife Sharon of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Liz Sikes of San Angelo, and Robert "D. D." Sikes of San Angelo; ten grandchildren, Melodi Alvarez and spouse Ashley of San Angelo, Jordan Alvarez of San Angelo, Robert Alvarez of San Angelo, Savanah Phelps, of San Angelo, Gianna Sikes of Laredo, Micah Sikes of Laredo, A.
