THOMAS EDWARD SLATTERY
November 6, 1937 ˜ July 11, 2023
Tom (Big Dog) Slattery passed away on July 11, 2023.
Husband to Linda, father to daughters, Kelly and Patty; brother to sister, Bev Burback (Ron); brothers, Terry (Kay) and Larry (Teri). Uncle, grandfather and friend to others. And my hero.
Thomas Edward Slattery entered this world on Nov. 6, 1937, in Des Moines, IA, and peacefully entered the Great Mystery while at home in Vancouver, WA.
Tom loved his family, the great outdoors, adventures, road trips, making people laugh and chocolate chip cookies. He was an avid hiker, marathon runner, snow skier, Class V boater, and a Marine. He loved old movies and owned an extensive library.
Tom leaves behind his beloved cats, Tonto, Tom Cat and Maggie; and dog, Loki, the Trickster.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Vancouver’s Water Resources Education Center.

Uncle Tommy had the coolest sports car. Jokingly when I was 16, I asked if I could take it for a spin. He didn´t say a word, just threw me the keys. Him and Dad playing chess after holiday festivities calmed dow was a staple. I always wondered if they ever finished a game. I was so happy when Linda came into his world. I am thinking about you Linda and want you to know, even though his song has finished his melody will live on in all of us blessed enough to have known him.
