Thomas Quincy Smith, a cherished husband, devoted father and grandfather, and esteemed educator, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Florence County, South Carolina, on July 25, 1943, Quincy was a dedicated and passionate advocate for education throughout his life.

A lifelong learner, Quincy earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University, a Master's degree from Appalachian State University, and an Education Specialist degree from Winthrop University. For over 34 years, Quincy poured his heart and soul into the educational systems of Latta, Batesburg/Leesville, Cheraw, Aynor, and Chester, where he served and made an indelible impact on countless students and educators.

Outside of his professional life, Quincy was a beloved member of his community in Scranton, SC. He was an active participant in the Bandits Coffee Club, where he shared not only coffee but also friendship, laughter, and camaraderie with others who were fortunate to know him.

Quincy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice McGee Smith; his son, Bryan T. Smith, and daughter-in-law, Tara, of Raleigh, NC; his daughter, Amy S. Shockley, and son-in-law, Joe, of Scranton; and his treasured grandchildren, Specialist J.T. Shockley and wife Emma of Texas, and Zannah Nutt and husband Landon of Lexington. He also leaves behind his adored great-granddaughter, Molly Alice Nutt; his nephew, Legrand Richardson and wife Amy; and great-nephews, Whit and Matthew Richardson.

Quincy was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Smith and Marjorie Lee Driggers Smith and his sister, Jewell Floyd. His presence in the lives of his family, friends, and community will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A memorial service to celebrate Quincy's life will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home, with Rev. Myers Graham officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service, from 2 to 3 PM, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Upper Lee Cemetery c/o Amy Shockley, 2063 Salem Road, Scranton, SC 29591, in Quincy's memory.
