Thomas Robert Sorensen

Tom passed away peacefully at his home in Sacramento on March 25, 2026, at the age of 81 after battling Dementia for many years.

Tom was born on April 24, 1944, in Cleveland Ohio to Tom and Ruth (Murphy) Sorensen. He attended schools in Cleveland and at a young age married Laurie Meyer (Schweizer) and had 2 children, Eric and Chris. They moved to CA around 1966 and parted ways in 1969. Tom moved to Napa around 1974 and met Barbara (Dalton) whom he married in 1978. They remained in Napa for several years with both of his sons, Eric & Chris. In 1986 they moved to Chico to purchase the Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz dealership.

Tom had a very successful career focused mainly on the auto industry and won many awards for his remarkable auto sales. He was a Volkswagen finance manager, Mercedes Benz salesman, Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz auto dealer and a regional trainer for Mercedes Benz. Everyone who knew him always was captivated by all the wonderful lengthy auto stories he had to share. Tom and Barbara moved to Vacaville in 1980 and remained there for many years before moving to the Sacramento area to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Sadly, he lost his son Chris in 2015 to health issues.

Tom was a loving, generous, kind husband, dad, grandfather and friend. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them skiing, camping and creating memories.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, son Eric Sorensen (Tara), grandchildren: Randy Sorensen (Makenna), Tayler Sorensen (Olivia), Kyle Sorensen, Casey Sorensen and Brady Sorensen and great granddaughter Jade Sorensen as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many who chose to call him uncle and/or grandpa. He was preceded in death by parents (Tom & Ruth) and Chris Sorensen (Son).

A celebration of life will be held on April 25th at Eric's home 842 Brown Dr El Dorado Hills. We invite you to come anytime between 1-5 to celebrate Tom. Thomas Robert Sorensen
