Thomas Speerin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by All County Funeral Home-Del Lago Chapel - Lake Worth on Jan. 21, 2026.
Thomas G. Speerin Jr., 86, of Lake Worth, FL. passed away on January 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, family, and friends.

Tom, affectionately known as "Kool" to some family members but "Uncle Tom" to everyone, was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 12, 1939, to Thomas and Dorothy Speerin. He grew up in Brooklyn with his brother George and the 92nd Street Boys. He went on to proudly serve his country as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.

In the mid-70s, Tom followed his brother George to sunny South Florida, where he found happiness in Lake Worth Beach. Throughout his life, Tom was known for doing things his own way. Many in the family often called it "Tom's World!" Tom lived an active and spirited life. He was an avid tennis player and bicyclist. He also loved running, playing racquetball, and music. He was always at his happiest when he was outdoors and moving. He once completed the Chicago Marathon. He also completed The Seven Mile Bridge Run many times and once took first place in his age group.

He was a true sports enthusiast! From his many "Sports Weekends" with his closest friends to staying local to watch the games, Uncle Tom would be there with a big smile! He loved spending time at local sports bars, watching his favorite teams! Whether it was Notre Dame, the Miami Heat, the Yankees, the Marlins, the Miami Dolphins, or the New York Football Giants! Celebrating a win or lamenting a tough loss, he found joy in the camaraderie and energy of the game and spending time with others.

Tom also loved to make people laugh with his unique sense of humor. He was a true showman and a great artist. He and his brother were the original instigators of "The Twelve Days of Christmas", after the Annual Lake Worth Christmas Parade at Daves Last Resort. A tradition loved by all and continues today! From clown noses and frozen picture gags to dragging toilet paper from the bottom of his shoe when coming out of the bathroom (just for a laugh), his warmth and smile lit up the room.

Tom is survived by his son Christopher, his brother George (Nancy), and his two nephews, Tom (Barbara), and George (Shenandoah), his 3 grandnephews Thomas Jr (Autumn), Daniel (Ashley), Killian, his grandniece Carly (Tyler), and his best friend John Reinhartsen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Dorothy (Maff & Faff).

Funeral arrangements will be shared as soon as they become available. Friends and family are invited to attend, share memories and wear apparel from one of Uncle Tom's favorite teams.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Tom's name. Please use the following link: https://dogood.t2t.org/IMOThomasSpeerinJr

Uncle Tom will be missed in many ways and loved by all who had the honor of calling him Dad, Brother, Uncle, and friend.

We worked with Tom at Century Village as he was the Tennis custodian and was always smiling and sharing stories. He will be missed. A good friend
