Thomas Leslie Staton, 74, of formerly of Sheridan, IL currently of Gainesboro, TN., passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025 in Cookeville, TN. He was born on August 5, 1951 in Grand Chain, IL. The son of Thomas and Wanda (Harris) Staton. He married Linda Orsini on July 2, 1971 in Ottawa, IL. Les was very talented and worked in architectural precast most of his life. He was known as a jack of all trades, he was known as "Mr. Fix It" there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. Les enjoyed the outdoors, dedicating his time as an avid hunter and fisherman. He was fortunate enough to see the country's beautiful places through his motorcycle road trips with his friends. He also had a fond love for everything Alaska. Most of all his heart was always with his grandchildren, in which he was known to never miss a sports game.
He is survived by his wife Linda of 54 years; one son, Thomas James (Shannon) Staton of Serena, IL; one daughter, Dawn (Luke) Woodin of Gainesboro, TN; six grandchildren, Kendall Staton, Malachi (Cameron Williams) Staton, Taylor (Justin Steorts) Staton, Thomas Hunter Staton, Marli Woodin, and Reice Woodin; one great-granddaughter, Presley Steorts; and one brother, Steve (Martha) Staton of Frisco, Tx.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Philip Staton and one daughter, Tammy Jo Staton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Visitation will resume at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 with Funeral Service at 11:30 am with Pastor Velda Wright officiating. Burial will follow funeral service at Elerding Cemetery in Sheridan, IL. Memorials may be directed to the Staton Family.
