Thomas Britton Tillman

Thomas Britton Tillman, 85 of Crawfordville, passed away on September 13, 2022. Tom was born on February 24, 1937 in Sparks, Georgia. He was the middle son of Andrew Lee and- Virginia Maples Tillman. He graduated from Ocala High School in 1955 where he was a member of the track team. He attended University of Florida, Florida State University, Temple University, University of Tennessee and University of Miami. He served in the United States Air Force for four years with strategic air command. He was married Virginia "Ginger" Graham Tillman for 61 years. Tom was employed by the Department of Labor for 30 years. Growing up he was a paper boy, grocery clerk, yard man, construction laborer; and he did road work with his dad. He was a member of Seafarer's Chapel of Shell Point, Florida, and founding father of St. Teresa Episcopal Church in Wakulla County. He was also founding father of Christ Church Anglican. He served on The Governor's Equal Employment Opportunity Committee for nine years. He also served on the Board of Directors for Florida Commerce Credit Union for 16 years, and president for two years. He was a member of ABVF for 20 years, and president for four years. He was an avid reader who enjoyed hunting artifacts, flint knapping, working in the yard with plants and flowers, fishing and traveling. He and his family lived in Shell Point, Florida for 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Ginger; two sons, Dan Tillman (Ginger) and Britt Tillman (Vicki); granddaughter, Tylher Tillman Gainer (Tanner) and grandson, Thomas Lane Gainer. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Taylor Graham Tillman. There will be a Celebration of Tom's Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Taylor Graham Tillman Scholarship fund through The Wakulla Academics Booster Club (wakullaacademicboosters.org.).
