Thomas J. Treacy

Thomas J. Treacy, 81, died Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, just three months after the passing of his beloved wife, Lois A. (Giovanella) Treacy. Together, they shared 58 years of devoted marriage.

Born in Winchester on December 1, 1943, he was the son of the late James Treacy and the late Gertrude (Lafleur) (Treacy) Kinton. Tom was raised and educated in Winchester and Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School. He met the love of his life, Lois, during their time at Salem State College, where he graduated with a degree in Education.

A longtime Peabody resident, he enjoyed a fulfilling 37-year career as a business teacher at Woburn High School, where he was known for his outgoing nature, warm personality, and was beloved by his colleagues and students alike. He had a special gift for connecting with students who struggled, offering them encouragement, patience, and a steady belief in their potential. During his tenure at Woburn High School, Mr. Treacy was a dedicated educator, who coached the track team and served as the faculty advisor for the yearbook committee for many years.

He was a kind man, who had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Over the years, Tom was a member of several social clubs and was always happiest in the company of others. He enjoyed playing golf and was a loyal and enthusiastic fan of Notre Dame football. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at White Horse Beach in Plymouth and Long Beach in Rockport. Among his most cherished memories were those spent with his family at Disney World.

Above all, "Poppa" was a proud and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Time spent with his grandchildren and his great-grandson brought him immeasurable joy. His faithful Golden Retriever, Buddy, was his constant companion.

He leaves three children, Thomas Treacy and his wife, Sarah, of Woburn, Michael Treacy and his wife, Jean, of Danvers, and Jennifer Baker and her husband, Brian, of Topsfield; nine grandchildren, Miranda Blanchette and her husband Jason, Shannon, Brendan, and Erin Treacy; Quinlan and Ryan Treacy; and Kelly, Emma, and Allie Baker; one great-grandson, Henry Blanchette. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Leo, James, Robert, and Richard and by his Kinton/Kenton step-sisters and step-brothers, Irene, Thomas, Pauline, John, Jean, Barbara, Donald, Samuel, and David.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm Street, Danvers Square. His funeral service will be held Saturday morning, December 6, 2025 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
