Thomas Wagoner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home on Jan. 9, 2026.
Thomas "Tommy" Wayne Wagoner, 41, of Johnston City, formerly of Benton, Salem, Dongola, Royalton, Carterville, Marion, and Herrin passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

A Celebration of Life for Tommy will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Cornerstone Church in Marion (located next to Sam's Club), with Pastor Jason Thrash and reflections by Coach Kerry Martin and Coach Darrell Wimberly. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the church.

Tommy was born on June 23, 1984, in Marion, to Douglas Wayne and Carol Louann (Morris) Wagoner.

He was currently working at Progress Port in Carterville as a recycling technician. And had recently lived with Progress Management, Inc. in Johnston City.

Tommy loved Special Olympics; played on many different teams and played many different sports. You could always count on Tommy to cheer you on and in fact, he won the best sportsmanship award one time. He was so moved by this it brought him to tears.

Tommy helped for many years with the Marion Football team and loved being a part of it.

Tommy had a huge heart and could always make you smile. He taught us all the meaning of love.

Tommy is survived by his father, Doug Wagoner; brother, Jon Wagoner; uncle, Ed & aunt, Linda Wagoner from Aiken, SC; plus many additional housemates, friends, and church family.
