Thomas Waller Obituary

Dr. Tom Waller departed to be with his Lord and Savior from his home on Tuesday evening, January 27. Dr. Tom was the son of Thomas Major Waller and Eustice Henderson Waller, who preceded him in death, along with his sister, Ione Mae Walker. He is survived by one nephew, William Walker of Utica, MS and many beloved cousins and friends. Tom never married. His hobbies included music, especially piano, handwork, and Bible study. Professionally, Dr. Waller graduated from University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1964 and served as Director of the Tombigbee Public Health Department until his retirement in 2003.

Dr. Waller was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church where he served as pianist and, occasionally, as interim pastor. Tommy, as his family members knew him, was a man after God's heart. His love for the gospel was evident to anyone he spoke with, and his generosity gave hope and encouragement to many strangers, acquaintances, friends, and family members. He was a true disciple of God, serving as the hands and voice of Jesus wherever he went. He will be greatly missed, but the influence he had on those who knew him will continue through the years and even generations.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to French Camp Academy and addressed to: Memorial, French Camp Academy, One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745.

Dr. Waller's funeral will be at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Starkville, MS on Tuesday, February 3. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM with funeral at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pontotoc, MS at 2:30 PM.
