Thomas E. Weil, 82, of Eastwood, peacefully passed away on Monday. He was very strong in his faith as a member of the Eastern Hill Bible Church in Manlius, NY. After graduating from Eastwood High School where he competed as a member of the football and track teams, Tom attended Syracuse University where he studied Political Science. After college, Tom taught U.S. History in the Syracuse City School District for over 30 years. He also coached football, lacrosse and soccer for the district. His passion for working with young people led him to coach his son's Little League and Pop Warner teams where he earned the nickname "Woody Hayes". Tom enjoyed working with athletes through Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His enthusiasm for athletic competition made him an avid Syracuse Orange, Syracuse Mets, Crunch and New York's professional team's fan. Tom's favorite memory was cheering on the 1959 Syracuse University football National Champion team. He was always cheering for his sons, and grandson's athletic teams as well as his granddaughters dance performances. Tom was an avid golfer and a member of the "Sod Busters" golf league. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed the beauty of nature. Tom spoke often about his time in the Adirondacks and many other fun adventures while making memories with his family and friends throughout the years. He enjoyed many local community events like the Polish fest and the NYS Fair or any place he could visit with people, enjoy good food, listen and dance to live music. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Bud and Helen Weil. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Kathleen B. (Bracker) Weil; his two sons, Aaron (Kym) Weil and Todd Weil; his sister, Frances (Thomas) Piazza; his four grandchildren, Wyatt, Dawsun, Wade, and Gunnar; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call 4 pm to 7 pm Monday at the Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd, Syracuse with a service to follow. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in White Chapel Cemetery, DeWitt, N.Y. Contributions may be made in Thomas's honor to Fellowship of Christian Athletes(my.fca.org) or The Parkinson's Foundation.
