Tom was never too busy too busy to help a friend or someone in need. When I broke the axle in my Jeep he let me store it in his garage until I got an axle and helped me then install it. He loaned me his pickup truck until we were able to fix it. I never asked for any of that. He just offered. Thats the kind of man he was.
He also escorted me over to one of his friends places to have some welding done on my RV. Again I never asked him, he just offered.
He invited me to his house to teach me how to can his famous spicy dill pickles. He got a group of us together to go fishing over at the coast and drove us all in his pickup. He would always bring me little samples of food he made at home or came across on his many adventures.
He called me often and I always left our conversations with a smile. I spoke with him just a few weeks before his passing. I wish I would have thought to check in with him more often.
Like all of us he wasn't perfect, but to me he was a fine outstanding man. I will miss him greatly. Rest in Peace my friend.
