Thomas Stephen Wozniewski, 74, of Harvard, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at his home with his loved ones beside him. Thomas was born on March 19, 1948 in Harvard, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Patricia (Fritsch) Wozniewski. He graduated from Harvard High School, class of 1966, and enlisted in the US Navy. Thomas was immensely proud of his time in the service. He was onboard the USS Enterprise the fateful day of January 14, 1969 and survived the fire and explosions. Thomas worked for many years as a carpenter after returning to civilian life. He was a member of the American Legion Harvard Post 265 as well as the Harvard VFW Post 8249. Thomas was fascinated by the weather and was a certified storm chaser. He loved his family and was prouder of them than anything.
Thomas is loved and missed by his sweetheart of over twenty years, Linida Hendle; his children Hillary (Brian) Busse, Hope (Brad) Vail, Hallie Wozniewski, and Joseph (Susana) Wozniewski; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings Maryann (Terry) Trebes, Barbara (Bob) Hartwig, and Shirley (Donnie) Blazier.
Thomas is predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Patricia Wozniewski, and niece Charlotte Koester.
A visitation will be held from 10 AM until 12 PM on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner Street, Harvard, Illinois 60033, with a graveside service to follow with military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, 300 E. Brink Street, Harvard, Illinois 60033, with Father Steven Clarke officiating.
